Thomas “Tom” Pladna, 94 of Fulton, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Fieldstone in DeWitt. Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. Thomas Herbert Pladna was born in Clinton, IA on May 20, 1930, the son of Edward and Grace (Snively) Pladna. Tom served in the National Guard for 13 years. He married Phyllis Keister on April 13, 1952 at St. John Lutheran Church. Phyllis died in 2017. Tom was employed as sales manager for over 58 years, including McEleney’s in Clinton. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and spending time with his wife at their lakeside property in Hayward, WI.
Tom is survived by his children, Cindy (Tom) Snyder of Fulton, IL, Richard (Cindy Spooner) Pladna of Clinton, and Brent (Debbie) Pladna of Clinton; eight grandchildren, Tom Current, Lindsay (Scott) Davis, Jessica (Jayson) Schneeberger, Andrew (Jenny) Pladna, Aaron (Megan) and Adam (Kim) Pladna, Jenna (Matt) Bray and Joshua Wehde; and nine great grandchildren, Olivia, Lilly, Maddox, Wesley, Wyatt, Scarlett, Raelynn, Ella, and Andie. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Phyllis; son-in-law Gary Current; daughter-in-law Robin; three brothers and one sister.
Rich- To you and your families, I extend my heartfelt condolences. I was privileged to work at McEleney’s with you and your dad. I had the utmost respect for him,as he was always a gentleman and fair-minded. A long life offers many memories, which I trust will give you peace as you adjust to life without him. May he rest in peace.

Sorry to read of your dad’s passing. I hope his long life was well-lived as I presume it was with all of you around your mother and father.
Your families look to have carried on with lots of grandchildren and great-grandkids to support each of you at a tough time. Here’s to better days ahead and similarly long lives for all our Pladna friends.
I bought my first car from him 59 years ago. He was a very nice man and it was a good car too! Very sorry for loss.
