
Tammy J. Schmidt age 54 of Clinton passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 8th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery.
Tammy was born in Chicago on October 7, 1971, the daughter of Joseph “Joe” and Penny (Shepard) Burridge. She married Kevin Schmidt on June 21, 2002 in Clinton. Tammy was employed as a CNA at Winning Wheels in Prophetstown and later at Eagle Point Nursing Home in Clinton. She took pride in the compassion she showed to the residents she cared for at both. She taught Sunday School at Riverside Presbyterian Church for several years. Tammy enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandkids. A day didn’t go by that she didn’t talk to her mother.
Tammy is survived by her husband Kevin; her daughter, Samantha Lutton (Nathan Jamison) of Clinton; 2 grandchildren, Dillon and Kenslee Jamison; her mother, Penny Shepard of Clinton; 5 brothers, Joe Burridge of Clinton, Shane (Hope) Lathrop of Camanche, Shaun Burridge of Clinton, Kirk Lathrop of Fulton, and John Burridge of Texas; a sister, Lori Lathrop of Clinton and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, 2 infant sons, and a brother, Donnie Burridge. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

I will always cherish the memories we shared together I just loved your caring heart along with your sense of humor and your laugh was contagious and I will always remember you and hold you dear in my heart we sure were some mischievous youngens running around our childhood stomping grounds in South Clinton weren’t we lol well until we cross paths again

I first met Tammy in 2024 when my sister passed away. They had worked at two nursing homes together. Tammy was as devastated as we were at Cindy’s death. I will forever remember her kindness during our tough time. My heart goes out to Tammy’s family and friends during this tough time.

Samantha I’m sorry this is happening it doesn’t seem real your mom and Kevin were my best friends for a long time even though we didn’t see eye to eye she was my sister and I will always love her I’m not sure how to handle this but very hurt I love you my favorite niece and will always be there to protect you I hope you know that even your kids are like my little buddies and Nate too sorry don’t know what to say but I love all of you and will miss my sister Tammy forever
