Robert W. “Bob” Unruh age 83 of Charlotte passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospitals following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Preston. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, July 9th at the church and from 9:00 AM until the service time Thursday. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his children and grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandchildren. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bob was born in Clinton on April 5, 1942, the son of Carl and Bernice (Holdgrafer) Unruh. He graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1960 where he played basketball and baseball. He was baptized, attended Sunday School and was confirmed with his future wife at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Preston. He married Sandra Young on September 21, 1963 at St. John’s. Bob farmed his entire life. He was a Beck’s Seed dealer and also drove a school bus for Goose Lake and later Northeast Schools. Bob was Past President and a founding member of the Northeast FFA Alumni and a 4-H leader of the Charlotte Jr. Producers for over 25 years.
Bob is survived by his wife Sandra; a daughter, Sheila (Dan) Bormann; a son, Ryan (Marci) Unruh; 2 grandchildren, Lance (Rachel) Bormann and Shelby (Riley) Demmer; 3 great grandchildren, Hayden and Hazel Bormann and Kolten Demmer; a brother, Gary Unruh and a nephew CJ Unruh. I’m in tears from hearing of the passing of my good friend Bob. We solved so many problems while we waited to load students at the high school. He will be missed, so many memories.

So sorry for your family’s loss . I enjoyed my time with him on the ffa alumni. I admired his dedication towards helping young ffa members.

Sorry to hear of Bob passing, lots of memories with his family through myself, my dad, my son with 4H, FFA, farm, seed corn. Good farm neighbor, he will be remembered/missed.
