Richard P. “Rick” Stopher age 80 of Fulton, IL passed away Wednesday July 2, 2025 at MercyOne of Clinton. Private family viewing will be held at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton followed by cremation rites. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Rick was born on Oct. 24, 1944 in Harrodsburg, KY the son of Carroll and Louise (Combs) Stopher. He married Mary Harp on June 18, 2004 in Morrison, IL. Rick worked as a Farrier with horses most of his life. He was a Lab Technician, an early EMT in Idaho, and a machine operator at Drives / Timken, and also a wood burning artist. He enjoyed woodworking, bluegrass music, and playing the guitar.
Rick is survived by his wife, Mary Stopher of Fulton, IL; 2 children, Mark Stopher of Clinton, IA and Tim (Kim) Stopher of Sterling, IL; 3 step-children, Daniel (Tascha) Morrisseau of Odessa, TX, Sarah Marquez of Fulton, IL, and Brianne Stopher of Jacksonville, FL; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Robert and Connie, father-in-law Kenneth Reynolds, mother-in-law Mary Reynolds, brother-in-law Jeff Reynolds, and a nephew, Robert. The family would like to thank the numerous medical professionals that have assisted him through his journey.
I am really sorry for your loss. May the Lord’s comfort give you strength during this difficult time. I hadn’t seen Rick for years but did meet him from the horse world. Super great man!
Rick was truly one of a kind and always made me and everyone smile. Thoughts and prayers to Mary and hus family.
