Kay A. Hake age 62 of Clinton, IA passed away Wednesday Oct. 8, 2025 at The Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton. Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday Oct. 13th from 4 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home; followed by a service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent to www.papefh.com.
Kay was born on Feb. 27, 1963 in Clinton, IA the daughter of Louis and Barb (Anderson) Koehler. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from CHS in 1981, attended Clinton Community College, and later received her Masters Degree in Education. Kay married Mark Hake on Aug. 7, 1982 in Clinton, IA. She was a special education teacher for the Clinton Community School District for many years.
Kay was a coach for girls’ volleyball and basketball in Clinton School District and coached girls’ basketball traveling team. She was active with the local School Safety Town, enjoyed bowling, and an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.
Kay is survived by her husband, Mark Hake of Clinton, IA; three sons, Drew (Jamie Hess) Hake, Darron (Rebecca) Hake, and Dolan Hake all of Clinton, IA; six grandchildren, Mason, Hope, Grace, Harper, Marcus, and Athena: her mother, Barb Koehler of Savanna, IL; her sister, Karin (Carl) Minssen of Fulton, IL; two brothers, Keith (Kelly) Koehler of Marshfield, WI and Kenny (Sue) Koehler of Savanna, IL; and her father-in-law, Bob Hake of Clinton, IA. She was preceded in death by her Mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and grandparents.

I am sorry to hear of Kay’s passing my heart is saddened. She was great with my daughters who volunteered for Safety Town many years. I watched her grandchildren Hope and Harper when they were younger. She will be greatly missed.
Mark, I’m so very sorry to hear about Kay passing. She was a wonderful gal. She will be missed . I want you to know I so much want to give you a big hug & be there in person to celebrate Kay’s life, sadly I’m traveling & it’s not in the card’s.
