Diane M. Dethmann passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at home. Following Diane’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Wednesday, July 6, from 4-6 PM at Pape Funeral Home, with a private prayer service to follow. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Diane was born on June 19, 1950 in Clinton, IA, the son of Earl and Mildred (Andresen) Heath. She graduated as the salutatorian from Camanche High School in 1968. Diane later graduated from Clinton Community College in 1999, and then graduated with honors from The Franciscan University in 2002.
Diane was a substance abuse counselor until she retired in 2018. Diane’s greatest passion though, was volunteering and working in her community. Diane was always willing to lend a volunteering hand, and there are far too many organizations to list them all, but she was immensely proud of her time spent with her church where she began and ran the food pantry, the Harvest Hoorah fall festival, and the Angel Tree program. Anytime she could help children, she would. Diane never met a child that she didn’t consider hers.
Diane’s greatest joy though, was her family. She is survived by her four children, Lori (James) DeMoss of Delmar, IA, Jodi (Todd) Guilliams of Clinton IA, Timiri Dethmann of Clinton, IA, and Nicholas (Denise) Dethmann of Davenport, IA; Six grandchildren that she loved so dearly, Josi DeMoss, Josh DeMoss, Alexis Dethmann, Justin (Kassidy) Guilliams, Libbi DeMoss, Kyle Guilliams, Seann Langreher; Five great grandchildren whom she absolutely adored, Kiliann, Kallie, Kade, Kenna, and Beau. She also leaves behind her fur grandkids, Jack and Gunner, as well as her sister Sally Schaaf, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Diane was preceded in death by her mother and father, brothers Tommy, Jim, and Pete, sister Jane, nephews Michael and Steven, and several dear friends.
