Dale E. Bott age 90 of Clinton, IA passed away Sunday June 15, 2025 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral service will be held Tuesday June 24th at 10:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. Visitation will be held Monday June 23rd from 4 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home and Tuesday 9:30 AM until the service hour at the church. Burial will be held at Oakland Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Brad Holm, Matt, Aaron, and Garrett Stumbaugh, Dr. Kyle O’Neill, Tate and Ty Jurgersen.
Dale was born on December 25, 1934 in Clinton, IA the son of Elmer and Alta (Ohlsen) Bott. He graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1953. Dale married Marilyn Smith on April 26, 1958 in Marion, IA; she died May 10, 1995. He later married Nancy Linder on March 23, 1996; she died March 3, 2020. Dale farmed his whole life, both agricultural and livestock in Clinton County. He raised cattle for over 70 years. He also was owner/operator of Dale Bott Trucking, which he started in 1957 for over 55 years. For several years Dale proudly participated in the Great Eastern Iowa Tractorcade on his Farmall MTA. In 2013, at the Iowa State Fair, Dale and daughters received the Iowa Century Farm Award for the Smith Farm, which they purchased from Marilyn’s parents.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Iowa Hereford Association, Clinton County Cattlemen Association, Builders Club, Lyons Business Professional Association, he was a Leader of the Spring Valley 4-H Club and Hampshire Sod Busters 4-H Club. Dale was a strong supporter of the Lyons and Clinton Community by giving of his time and providing equipment when needed for special events. Dale attended the Iowa State Fair every year for over 70 years.
Dale is survived by his five daughters, Dr. Patricia Holm of Oregon, IL, Dalene (Joe) Bott-Kitslaar of Rochester, MN, Annette (Tim) Black of Davenport, IA, Colene (Terry) O’Neill of Princeton, IA, and Leslie (Jason) Stumbaugh of Clinton, IA; 11 grandchildren, Brad (Katie), Rachel and Halley Holm; Abby (Ryan Prescher) Kitslaar, Emily (Cody) Petersen, Megan (Matt) Daniels, Caitlin (Cody) Berg, Dr. Kyle (Jaycie) O’Neill, and Matt (Helena), Aaron (Maggi) and Garrett Stumbaugh; 11 great grandchildren; his sister, Roberta Jurgersen of Clinton, IA; nephew, Michael (Kim) Jurgersen of Clinton, IA; and his side kick, Bill Ebensberger. He was preceded in death by his parents, both of his wives, great granddaughter, Violet Prescher, son-in-law, Harlan Holm, and brother-in-law, Louie.
