Tom was born in Winona, Minnesota on July 18, 1941, the son of Francis James and Margaret Gertrude (Haigh) Moody. He played hockey from his youth through high school and Winona High. His alias was Clarence Wippledink, a name he told a referee at a high school game when he was whistled for a penalty and they announced it to the crowd. He would jokingly introduce himself to people with that name. Tom married Sherry Nako. They were married for 39 years. Tom owned and operated Moody’s Carpet Manor in Lyons for many years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the Knights of Columbus. Tom enjoyed his yearly fishing trip to Branson. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Tom is survived by 2 sons; Jeff Moody of Cedar Rapids and Mike (Christy) Moody of Kansas City; 2 grandchildren, Alexandria and Thomas; 3 sisters, Jackie (Carl) Babcock of Michigan City, IN, Nancy Schmit of Rollingstone, MN, and Susan (Angelo) DeLorenzo of Washington Crossing, PA; his ex-wife Sherry Prescott of Sterling, IL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Patrick and sisters, Marilla and Jeannie.
