Bernadette Katherine Broadrick, age 100, passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 18, 2026, at her residence at Park Vista Retirement Living in Camanche, Iowa. In following Bernadette’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. She will be interred next to her loving husband, Bill, in Springdale Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will start at 10:30 am at Pape Funeral Home for a Celebration of Life at 11:30 am, September 26.
Bernadette was born in Clinton, Iowa, on August 3, 1926, the eldest daughter of Josephine (Waldorf) and Martin Broadrick. She graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Clinton at the age of 16 and further attended Mount Saint Clare College in Clinton.
She met William “Bill” Roberts, the love of her life, while working at Shick Army Hospital, where Bill was recovering from injuries at the end of WWII. She worked as a Medical Records Transcriptionist at Mercy Hospital in Clinton from the start of her career until her retirement.
Bernadette cherished the summers with Bill spent at their cabin in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota where they had longterm friends who also had a cabin next door! There her days were filled with friends, visiting family, and lots of fishing and fish fries! Dancing with Bill was also one of her favorite joys and the couple enjoyed traveling to big band events to dance to the music they loved. An amazing seamstress, Bernadette belonged to a local sewing circle where she crafted many holiday decorations and handmade her children’s summer wear. She loved her garden and flowers and also loved visiting estate sales for a bargain!
Bernadette is survived by her three children: William A. (Julie) Roberts of West Palm Beach, FL; Katherine (Steve) Regenwether of Memphis, TN; and Kenneth (Adonna) Roberts of Hinsdale, IL; 10 grandchildren, Julie, Cristella, Danielle, Will, Eric, Matthew, Jedediah, Jocelyn, Dominique and Gabrielle; and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews who were a special part of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Arthur Roberts, and her four younger siblings; Martin Paul Broadrick, Thomas Broadrick, William Broadrick, and Jeanne Elizabeth Broadrick Ries.
