William E. Shirley age 77 of Clinton, passed away Sunday Dec. 13, 2020 at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City. Cremation rites have been accorded. William was born on Sept. 17, 1943 in Clinton, the son of Frank and Alberta (King) Shirley. He married Diana Chase on April 8, 1985 in Clark County, NV, she died in 2002. He worked at Hawkeye Chemical Plant as an operations technician. He enjoyed fishing, camping, collecting coins, and working on cars.
William is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Sally) Shirley of Camanche and William (Michelle) Shirley Jr. of Clear Lake, MN; two daughters, Susan Zmuda of Clinton and Jane (Bill) Ward of Burlington, IA; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two brothers, Butch (Karen) Shirley and Dan Shirley both of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife-Dianna, and a sister-Myrna.
