William A. “Bill” Reid, age 93 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Mercy One Medical Center. In following Bill’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bill was born October 18, 1929 in Squantum, Massachusetts, the son of Raymond K. and Lillian (Swanson) Reid. He lived most of his childhood in Campbellsville, KY, where he would later settle after retirement for over 20 years. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War in his early life. He married Arlene Kinkaid on January 28, 1950 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clinton. Bill and Arlene raised 4 children and spent 68 years together. They have now been reunited for eternity. Bill was employed as a farm hand in his early life, which eventually led him to Clinton where he married, raised a family, and worked his way to managements at Clinton Corn/ADM, retiring after 40 years. He was a proud Chief of the Clinton Police Reserves for 40 years. Bill and Arlene spent their summers in Bagley, WI where he loved to camp and fish with his family and close friends. He enjoyed hunting, bowling, woodworking, taxidermy, and golf. Most of all, Bill loved his family and friends wholeheartedly. He called all the kids “Pumpkin” and made each feel special no matter what. The wisdom, strength and love Bill and Arlene shared will live on with everyone they touched for eternity.
Bill is survived by 4 children; Gloria Raun of Clinton, Raymond (Bobbie) Reid of Beggs, OK, Donna Matz of Clinton, and Diana (JD) Dohrn of Clinton; 15 grandchildren who he adored; 28 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren, and several lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arlene; a granddaughter, Renae; 3 brothers, Frank, Howard, Richard, and one sister, Dorothy. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
