
Pamela “Pam” Kay Hammond, age 79, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 25th, 2026 at the Addington Place in Clinton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1st at 9:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton, Iowa, and funeral services will follow at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa. Casket bearers will be Nathan Harden, Evan Harden, Sean Hammond, Chad Rallie, Dan Kuil, and Jason Wilson. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Pam was born on January 8th, 1947 in Clinton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Frank and Evelyn (Hull) Verfaillie. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1965. She also graduated from the University of Iowa with her daughter, Roberta, in May of 1987. In her younger years, she did volunteer work at the Red Cross, Jane Lamb Hospital, and Information and Referral Services. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Pam enjoyed traveling, dining out, and going to the movies. She was a supporter of the Mayo Clinic Foundation, University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Disabled Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She loved her family, especially her husband of 62 years, Robert, and her children, Roberta (Jim) Harden and Paul (Lisa) Hammond, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Robert Hammond, of Clinton, IA; her two children, Roberta (Jim) Harden, and Paul (Lisa) Hammond both of Clinton, IA; her six grandchildren, Rachel (Chad) Rallie of DeWitt, IA, Nicole (Dan) Kuil of Ames, IA, Nathan (Lexie) Harden of Waterloo, IA, Erika Hammond of Clinton, IA, Sean Hammond of Iowa City, IA, and Evan Harden of Clinton, IA; her 3 greatgrandchildren, Oakley and Jameson Rallie, and Blakely Harden; her sister, Sandra Milder, of Clinton, IA, and brother, Tom Verfaillie, of Circleville, OH, and a sister-in-law, Darlene Lehmkuhl of Dellwood MN; Her aunt, Billie Hull, of Clinton, IA, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in laws Lynn Verfaillie, Grace Kane, Gloria Hammond, Agnes Eberhart and Janice Quick, and brother-in laws Steve Milder, Delbert Hammond, Jack Kane, Bob Eberhart, and Larry Lehmkuhl.
A special thanks to Jenny Hansen and her crew for taking care of Pam in her time of need. Also, thank you to the Addington Place and hospice nurses for the compassionate care shown to Pam. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to the Clinton Humane Society.

Love those smiling eyes that were passed on from the genes of Grandma Evelyn. Years ago I bowled with Pam. She was such a kind soul who would never put herself front and center, but would quietly encourage others. May your many special memories carry you through the days ahead. Hugs to all.
