Shirley Jean Rockwell 74, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Genesis East Medical Center. A visitation will be held at Pape Funeral Home on Friday, December 29th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Following the visitation a graveside service will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Shirley was born in Clinton, IA on August 11, 1949 the daughter of Dwaine and Jacqueline (McDermott) Nielsen. She married Russell Rockwell on March 27, 1998 in Clinton. Shirley worked as a bus monitor for the Clinton school district, the Salvation Army, and for numerous cleaning companies. She enjoyed gardening, and loved her dogs and cats.
Shirley is survived by her husband Russell; children Bill Bromley from Louisiana, and Doug Bromley of Chicago, IL; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Terry Nielsen.
I’m so sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. She cleaned at Iowa American Water when I worked there and always made me laugh! What a wonderful soul. Prayers of comfort to her family.
