Robert L. “Bob” Stevenson, Jr. age 83 of Camacnhe, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at Mercy One Hospital in Clinton. In following Bob’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 18th at the Imperial Lanes in Camanche with a sharing of memories at 6:00 PM. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Bob was born in Clinton on November 30, 1939, the son of Robert L. and Dorothy (Dunn) Stevenson, Sr. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1958. While at Clinton High Bob was a member of the track and swim teams, was in the choir, and served as homeroom secretary. Bob lived on the family farm all his life. He farmed, worked on the railroad, owned Clinton Yamaha Kawasaki, worked at Witt’s Small Engine, and did snow plowing and grass cutting for several business’s. He loved life. He had several favorite things he loved doing which include boating on the Mighty Mississippi, snowmobiling, motorcycle riding, hunting and having a beer or two with great friends. He loved life to the fullest every day and never let anything stop him.
Bob is survived by 4 children; Jeffrey Stevenson of Palm Bay, FL, Lisa (Rick) Griffin of Sunrise Beach, MO, Petty Officer 1st Class, retired, US Navy, Robert (Cecilia) Stevenson of Davenport, and Cory (Kim) Stevenson of Long Grove, and grandchildren, 1st Lieutenant Taylor Murray, Federal Police Officer Jose Arante, Alicia Stevenson, Sydni Stevenson, and Jackson Stevenson. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eugene. The family expresses their gratitude to Dr. Albaghdadi, Dr. Taher, Dr. Chundru, and Dr. Manning and all the staff in CCU at Mercy One. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Camanche Fire Department, Good Samaritan Society Services at Home, or Mercy One Clinton Medical Center.
