Robert J. “Papa” Brashaw, Sr. age 71 of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, October 24th at the First Baptist Church in Clinton. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the church. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rob, Chad, Shawn, Jeff, R.J. Brashaw and Scott Bengtson. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Papa was born in Savanna, IL on February 9, 1952, the son of Clyde E. and Dora Bell (Lisk) Brashaw. He married Connie “Mema” on August 26, 1989 in Clinton. Papa was a finish carpenter by trade. He had been employed at National By-Products, and later drove a school bus for the Clinton School District. Papa was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was very active in all church activities. He was a member of Citizens Police Academy, Community Emergency Management, Clinton Airport Commission, and KOZ. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, hunting, and fishing. He was a Dallas Cowboy, Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs and John Wayne fan.
Papa is survived by his wife, Connie; 5 sons, Robert “Rob” (Dee) Brashaw of Albany, IL, Shawn (Amy) Brashaw of Mt. Carroll, IL, Chad (Christina) Brashaw of Clinton, Jeff Brashaw of Mt. Morris, IL, and Jason Noble in Kansas; 3 daughters, Jennifer (Don) Engelkens of Morrison, IL, Fee Fee (Dan) Hantelman of Clinton, and Donna (Scott) Bengtson, of Russellville, OH; 19 grandchildren, Danielle, R.J., Tyler, Cheyenne, Katie, Caleb, Cody, Tommy, Morganne, Hunter, Courtney, Cassidy, Carissa, Cammi, Joslyn, Devin, Megan, Evan, and Sammy; 27 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Norma Robbe of Mt. Carroll and Sharon (Jerry) Kingery of Florence, CO; 2 brothers, Ronnie (Shirley) Brashaw and Roger Brashaw, both of Mt. Carroll and several nieces and nephews.
