Robert H. Shumake age 95 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday March 30, 2021 at his home. Private family services will be held Saturday April 3rd at the Pape Funeral Home. Robert was born on May 11, 1925 on the family farm near Charlotte, IA, the son of Robert F. and Henrietta (Hansen) Shumake. He married Margaret Miller on June 15, 1945 in Clinton; she died Oct. 4, 2010. Robert farmed near Preston and worked at Chicago Northwestern Railroad in the car shop in Clinton, retired in 1988.

Robert was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Preston. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing, spending time on the river, dancing, and traveling.

Robert is survived by his three children, Sheryl Ringen of Clinton, IA, Judy Ehresmann of Olympia, WA, and Robert E. (Christy) Shumake of Clinton, IA; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Reed of Clinton, IA; his nieces and nephews; and his four-legged friend, Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret, his infant granddaughter, Blyanna, his son-in-law, Adolph, and his sister, Esther.
