Robert “Bob” Cain, 86 of Charlotte passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family on March 20, 2024. A Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 23rd at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Preston. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Friday, March 22nd at the church. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and a nephew. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.

Bob was born on August 31, 1937 in Clinton, IA, the son of Matthew and Elizabeth (Dever) Cain. He graduated from Goose Lake High School. Bob married Joan Foster on May 23, 1959 at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church. He farmed his entire life, all the way up to 2023. Bob was a proud Irishman. He enjoyed tractor pulling, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and cheering on the Northeast Rebels.

Bob is survived by his wife, Joan; children Kelly (Joe) Sparks, Karen (John) Eberhart, Kevin (Lynn) Cain, and Keith (Nichole) Cain; 10 grandchildren, Ashley, Megan, Lindsey, Shaun, Justin, Rachael, Matthew, Adam, Ty, and Elly; 15 great grandchildren, Calleigh, Camden, Paisley, Kinsley, Nora, Dylan, Valerie, Elsie, Elias, Boone, Tillie, Finn, Beau, Henley, and Arlie; sister Kathryn Caron; three brother in laws, David (Jane) Foster, Bob Watters, and Al Ketelsen; four sister in laws, Betty Cain, Margaret Cain, Kate Foster, and Fran Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in law Frank and Mary Foster; brothers Francis, Edward, and Raymond Cain; sisters Mary Margaret McDermott, Eileen Bly, Maureen Witt, Angela McMahon, Cecelia Sullivan, and Roberta Obermann; bothers in law Frank Foster Jr., John Foster, Vern Witt, Don Bly, Bill McMahon, Eldon Sullivan, Milton Obermann, Pat McDermott, and Bob Caron; and sisters in law Theresa Foster, Kathy Ketelsen, and Pat Watters.
