John D. Barrette, age 62 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at his home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date.
John was born in Clinton on March 18, 1961, the son of Francis and Dolores (Luher) Barrette. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1979. John married Mary Christine Kehn on April 25, 1981 at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. As a teen ager John worked at Phillips 66. He was employed at E.I DuPont for a short time and since 1981 had been employed at 3-M. Over the years he coached basketball and softball at Northeast, East Central, Camanche and Prince of Peace Schools. John was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the 3-M Emergency Responders. Family was of most important to John. He was proud of his daughters and grandchildren who he adored. He was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
John is survived by his wife Mary; 2 daughters, Christine (Lee) Eberhart of Ankeny, Iowa and Bridget (Mark) Keegan of Camanche; 5 grandchildren, Brody, Ellie, and Liam John Eberhart, Peyton Huebner, and Madden Keegan; 1 brother; 1 sister; his mother-in-law, Mary Kehn, and 2 sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Daryl Kehn; 1 brother, and 4 sisters. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Schools. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
