Jeanette L. Thompson, age 80 of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Clinton, passed away December 30, 2022 at the Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf. In following Jeanette’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Pape Funeral Home. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:00 AM until the service time Friday at the funeral home. Following the service Jeanette and her husband Bruce will be laid to rest at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Jeanette was born in Clinton on February 24, 1942, the daughter of George “Junie” and Jean (Slowie) Jones. She graduated from Mount St. Clare Academy. Jeanette married Bruce G. Thompson on September 15, 1963 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. Bruce passed away on June 6, 2018. Jeanette was employed at Clinton Federal Savings and Loan in Clinton and later was involved with elder care. She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish and the former Odeon Club. Jeanette enjoyed spending time with and attending her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. She also enjoyed going to the casino and play slot machines, going shopping, getting her nails done with friends, going to lunch with friends, and watching the HAWKEYES football and basketball games.
Jeanette is survived by 2 children; Sherri (Pat) Costello of Clarksville, IN and Don Thompson of Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Drew (Breanna) Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Alexandra (Mark) Zawatzki, and Jacob Costello; 3 great-grandchildren, Mathias, Bryce, and Isiah, with a 4th on the way; a sister, Patty (Bernie) Berberich of St. Louis; 4 brothers, Tom (Norma) Jones of Fulton, IL, Pete (Stephanie) Jones of Cedar Rapids, Steve (Deb) Jones of Low Moor, and Paul Jones of Clinton and several nieces and nephews.
