Helen V. Bice, age 90, of Clinton, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at her home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 29th, at Prince of Peace Parish for Helen and her daughter Sylvia. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Prince of Peace. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Helen was born in Clinton on January 18, 1933, the daughter of William J. and Margaret E. (Diedrich) Mussman. She attended St. Irenaeus Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. Helen married Merle “Pat” Bice on August 16, 1952, at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage. Pat passed away on December 14, 2022. Helen was a member of Prince of Peace and volunteered many hours at the church with funeral luncheons, Eucharistic Minister, and the hot lunch program at St. Irenaeus Grade School. She and her husband enjoyed bowling at the Odeon Club, dancing, and they wintered in Texas for 30 years. Helen enjoyed her grandchildren and attending auctions.
Helen is survived by 6 sons; Stephen (Marybeth) Bice of Bettendorf, Kurt (Carol) Bice of LeClaire, Pat (Cindy) Bice of Vesper, WI, Rodney (Deb) Bice of Edgerton, WI, Tim (Annette) Bice of Murfreesboro, TN, and Andy (Glenda Stormes) Bice of Ames; 3 daughters; Cindy Ottens of Camanche, Laura Bice of Clinton, and Lynn (Kevin) Cain of Goose Lake; 23 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; a brother, Donald (Judy) Mussman of Hawaii, and sister, Donna Thornbloom of Cordova, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pat; an infant son, Christopher; a son, Lance; a daughter, Sylvia; a granddaughter, Christine; a grandson, Reese, and 3 brothers, William, Ed, and Larry.
