Gertrude (Trudy) Montgomery, age 94, of Clinton, passed from her natural life and began her eternal existence, on April 23, 2023, at her home, surrounded by many of those who were so richly blessed by her unconditional love. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Pape Funeral Home and Monday morning May 1, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Church with Mass of the Christian Burial immediately following at 11:00 AM.

Friends and family are welcomed to a “Celebration of Life” luncheon at Prince of Peace Church immediately following the funeral mass.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton, where Trudy will be laid to rest alongside the “Love of Her Life”, husband Kenneth Montgomery (d. 2006). Casket bearers will be her grandsons, and honorary pallbearers will be her other grandchildren.

Trudy began her memorable life’s journey on January 24, 1929, in Garden Plain, IL., one of four daughters of Edward and Gertrude (Finn) Kinney. She graduated from Fulton Community High School as class valedictorian in 1946.

Trudy married Kenneth Montgomery on September 20, 1947, at St. Mary’s Church in Clinton. Trudy worked for Carstensen’s as a bookkeeper before being employed with Montgomery Ward Company, from which she retired in 1986. In addition to being actively involved in St. Mary’s Parish and later Prince of Peace, Trudy enjoyed bowling, was an avid golfer, and loved getting together with her close friends for their weekly card groups.
Trudy is survived by twelve children: Linda (Michael) Ronek of Hamilton, OH., James (Kelly) of Clinton, Deborah of Clinton, Tom (Laura) of Ankeny, IA., Tim of Yorkville, IL., William of Chicago, Patrick (Jill) of Highland, WI., Sean (Cindy) of Singapore, Mary of Ankeny, IA., Robert (Rob Sorum) of Chicago, IL., Patricia (Dave) Mallary of Cordova, IL., and David of Clinton; 23 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one sister, Iola Turner of Albany, IL.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth (2006), an infant daughter, Kathleen (1949), son Kevin (1994), sister Florence (1989), and sister Bernice (1995), and great-grandson Beckett (2018).

The family requests memorials to be contributed to the Prince of Peace Parish or Mercy One Hospice.
