
Raphael P. Frett, age 85 of Preston, IA, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Nov. 10th at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston. Visitation will be held Sunday, 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the church. The Pape Funeral Home, Clinton is assisting the family. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Preston. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Raphael was born on Dec. 12, 1939, in Clinton County, Iowa, the son of Bernard and Elizabeth (Reuter) Frett. Raphael married Joan Messerich on Sept. 12, 1964 in Sugar Creek, IA. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Preston American Legion Post #602, which will conduct military honors at the cemetery, Iowa National Guard, the Jackson County Zoning Board, and the Sabula Izaak Walton League. As well as many other committees pertaining to his boys’ activities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a Boy Scout Webelos Leader.
Raphael built and renovated numerous structures throughout Preston and the surrounding communities through his own business. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship and warm sense of humor, he was always ready with a friendly joke or story. He was a trusted businessman and a valued friend to many.
Raphael is survived by his wife, Joan Frett of Preston, IA; three sons, Darrell Frett of Riverside, IA, Stacey (Anne) Frett of Grimes, IA, and Patrick (Susan) Frett of Wailuku, HI; daughter-in-law Ann Frett of Golden Valley, MN; four grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Audrey, and Josh; four brothers; five sisters; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dennis.
