Jimmy Allen Schutte, 85, of Clinton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Fieldstone of DeWitt. In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at Rossiter Cemetery in Charlotte, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will follow from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. at 3704 N. 3rd Street in Clinton, courtesy of Brian and Lori Audi. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements, including military honors.

Jimmy was born on June 22, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Ruby (Duncan) Schutte. He married Sheryl Gibson, who preceded him in death in 2016.
Jimmy received an honorable discharge from the United States Army in June 1969 after serving with the 92nd Heavy Artillery. He worked as a machinist, welder, and supervisor at Central Steel until its closure. He then began a career at the Rock Island Arsenal, where he received numerous awards and recognition before retiring. An avid outdoorsman, Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication to his family, and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures.

Jimmy is survived by his children, Janet (Kevin Edwards) Stremlow of Ohio and James (Tonya) Schutte of Clinton; grandchildren, Krystle (Joseph McQuistion), Tony, and Tristen (JD); three great-grandchildren, James, Josh, and Mayson; his sister, Scarlet Stansbery of Mason City; his brother, Floyd (JoAnn) Schutte of Camanche, Iowa; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheryl; his sister, Elsie Busta; and his brothers, Harold Lee Schutte of Waterloo, Iowa, Carrol Schutte of Camanche, Iowa, Jerry Schutte of LeClaire, Iowa, and Paul Schutte of Fort Atkinson, Iowa.
