Harold L. Smith age 86 of Clinton, IA passed away Friday Jan. 31, 2025 at MercyOne of Clinton. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday Feb. 5th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery at a later date. Harold was born on May 3, 1938 in Preston, IA the son of William O. and Olive L. (Risinger) Smith. He graduated from Preston High School in 1956. Harold married Judith E. Brandenburg on May 7, 1961 in Andover, IA. Harold was a financial advisor for many years, working for Blue Cross / Blue Shield and Mutual of Omaha.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Andover, Isaac Walton League for over 50 years, and the I.I. Antique Cars Club. Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Harold is survived by his wife, Judith E. Smith of Clinton, IA; two daughters, Stacie (Bob) Bedford of Iowa City, IA and Dawn (John) Bollard of Oakdale, MN; 3 grandchildren, Sierra, Taylor, and Trenton; 3 great grandchildren, Adler, Jack, and Bennett; and a sister, Berniece Marburger of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Scott in 2010.
