Diane Dierks, 73, of Clinton passed away on February 1, 2024 with her loving family by her side. To celebrate Diane’s Life a Visitation will be held at The River Church, 2378 S. 14th St., Clinton on Tuesday February 6th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a service to begin at 12:00 pm. Please join us for a luncheon following the service. Private Burial will be held at Dierks Cemetery.
Diane was born on February 13, 1950 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Roger and Kathryn (Sawyer) Gerber. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1968. During high school, Diane went on her first date and it was by the end of that date that she knew she was in love. Her first date turned out to be Jim Dierks and on January 26, 1969, the couple tied the knot. Together, the couple traveled the world while Jim served in the US Air Force while raising their two children, Carol and Michael.
The family settled in Clinton in 1990, where she began working at Sterling Federal Bank until permanently closing. Diane then began working at Medical Associates, where she spent many years until retiring in 2015. Diane had a passion and gift for sewing and was a talented seamstress. She sewed throughout her life, sharing her skills and talents with so many as she altered, sewed, and crafted clothes, dresses, and quilts for her children and grandchildren. She also had a love for fishing and spending time relaxing and making memories at their cabin near Sabula.
Above all, Diane loved her children fiercely and dedicated her life to their care and happiness, creating many beautiful memories that they treasure to this day. Her role as a grandmother and eventually great grandmother was no different. Her world revolved around every concert and sporting event that her grandchildren participated in which she cherished immensely. If you knew Diane, you knew it was her love for her family that always stood out. After losing Jim in 2020, Diane lost a part of herself and also left a huge void in her life. Knowing that they are together again free of any pain and worries, and more than likely fishing together, is the only thing that helps her family be at peace now and in the days ahead.
She leaves behind her children Carol Dierks (Cory Lang) of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Mike Dierks (Lisa Herrington) of Clinton, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jessica (Brian) Pawluk, Scott (Kyrsten) McCright, Joseph McCright, Blake Dierks and McKenna Dierks (Brody Lodge) and three great-grandchildren, Landon, Olivia and Myles; Her sister, Patti (Jan) Housenga of Camanche; Many nieces and nephews and of course her best buds, Daisy and Dudley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Roger Gerber. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
I met Diane at River Church and she was a special lady! We were on the Thursday cleaning crew together. I will miss her smile and caring heart?

Diane was our church cleaning buddy on Thursday mornings . She will be missed ! AJ helped her with replenishing envelopes, cards , pens etc in the auditorium. I got to have conversations with her in the bathroom as that was my area to clean ,lol. We also enjoyed our prayers, fellowship and treats following our “deeds” . Love and prayers to the family!
