David R. Sander age 78 of Goose Lake, IA passed away Wednesday Sept. 27, 2023 at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family ceremony will be held Sunday morning at Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. A gathering of friends and family will be held Sunday Oct. 1st from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the Millennium ( Tilted Silo) in Goose Lake, IA. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com
David was born on May 26, 1945 in Clinton, IA the son of Hobart and Louise (Andersen) Sander. He graduated from Goose Lake High School in 1963. David worked as a mechanic with Chemplex for over 32 years. After retirement, he drove semi for 10 years. David enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, gardening, and his annual Christmas lights display at his home. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
David is survived by his daughter, Darcy (Mike) Crockett of Bryant, IA; two sons, Keith (Lynn) Sander of Clinton, IA and Darin (Dawn) Sander Anamosa, IA; eight grandchildren, Aubry, Mitchell, Megan, Evan, Cole, Kelly, Kate, and Sophie; three great grandchildren, Chloe, Weslee, and Nora; and a brother, Gary (Gwen) Sander of DeWitt, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter – Ellie, and a sister – Patsy.
