August R. Von Thun – 89

August R. Von Thun, age 89 of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at his home. In following August’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services at this time. Burial will take place at Rossiter Cemetery, Charlotte, Iowa. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
August was born in Clinton on August 18, 1933, the son of August and Elsie Marie (Jahn) Von Thun. He married Joyce Hudson on March 24, 1958 in Lisbon, Iowa. August was employed at Clinton Corn Processing Company for 27 years. He was a semi driver for Dahlen Trucking for several years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and a Son of AMVETS. He enjoyed bowling and playing pool at the AMVETS Club on Tuesday’s and Friday’s. August was an avid New York Yankee fan.
August is survived by his wife Joyce; 2 children, Barbara (Allan) Buikema of Fulton and Ronald (Susan) Von Thun of Panama Beach, FL; 5 grandchildren; 8great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Erich Von Thun of East Moline, Roland Von Thun of Camanche, Stanley (Nancy) Von Thun of Camanche, and Phillip Von Thun of Moline, and several nieces and nephews.
