Marietta M. Diedrich, age 91 of Goose Lake, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 in Maquoketa. According to her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 AM to 12 noon on Friday, July 7th at Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte. A memorial service will begin at 12 noon. Inurnment will take place at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Marietta Malinda Diedrich was born in Jackson County on April 16, 1932, the daughter of Francis and Malinda (Schmidt) Sullivan. She married Clarence Diedrich on May 5, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church in Bryant, IA. Clarence passed away in 2020. She and Clarence farmed in Clinton County for several years. She also worked at Carlon International Paper and most recently retired from Walmart. Marietta was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Charlotte. She enjoyed going to the casino, crocheting, ceramics, and especially going to her grandkids school and sporting events.
Marietta is survived by five children, Daniel (Cindy) Diedrich of Charlotte, Deb (Robyn) Rogis of Bryant, Dale (Tammy) Diedrich of Goose Lake, Dave Diedrich of Goose Lake, and Duane (Chris) Diedrich of Charlotte; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; seven sisters, Donna (Albert) Block of Richland Center, WI, Macel (Don) Diedrich of Low Moor, Kathleen Knight of Milton, WI, Agnes (Clive) Ziemet of Spragueville, Linda Aldis of Preston, Audrey (David) Schmidt of Maquoketa, and Pat (Richard) Robinson of Goose Lake; a brother Robert (Sharon) Sullivan of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Ferris and Harvey; and a sister Doris.
