Sylvia A. Robinson, age 67, of Camanche, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Mercy One Hospital after a brief illness. In following Sylvia’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 29th at Prince of Peace Parish for Sylvia and her mother Helen. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Prince of Peace. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Sylvia was born in Clinton on July 21, 1955, the daughter of Merle “Pat” and Helen (Mussman) Bice. She graduated from Clinton High School. Sylvia married Larry Robinson on October 27, 1979 after they fell in love dancing to Jr. Walker’s song “Way Back Home”. They made their home at the 7-acre park they build- Splendor Hill- in rural Williamsburg. Larry passed away on May 8, 2017. Sylvia was Director of Food Services at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and lived in the Iowa City area for over 40 years before she moved to Camanche in 2020. She was a member of Prince of Peace. In addition to being wildlife art collectors and owning a wildlife art gallery in Williamsburg, Sylvia and Larry enjoyed playing in pool leagues and fishing. Sylvia was an avid collector of rocks, stamps, and jewelry. She enjoyed going to estate sales, auctions, and antiquing. She adored her parents and was a compassionate care giver.
Sylvia is survived by 6 brothers; Stephen (Marybeth) Bice of Bettendorf, Kurt (Carol) Bice LeClaire, Pat (Cindy) Bice of Vesper, WI, Rodney (Deb) Bice of Edgerton, WI, Tim (Annette) Bice of Murfreesboro, TN, and Andy (Glenda Stormes) Bice of Ames; 3 sisters; Cindy Ottens of Camanche, Laura Bice of Clinton, and Lynn (Kevin) Cain of Goose Lake, sisters-in-laws Sandy Robinson and Barb Hopwood, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends she called family.
