Andrew “Andy” W. Barrett, 46, of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at his home on September 3rd, 2021. A private family service will be held at Pape Funeral Home, with a public Celebration of Life to be held at the AmVets on Friday, September 17th starting at 5 PM. Andy was born in Clinton, IA on July 27th, 1975, the first born to James Patrick and Mary Jo (Hyde) Barrett. He attended Clinton schools. Over the years, he enjoyed bowling at Plaza Bowl and served on the board of directors from 2005-2013 and served as President in 2013. He was also a Freemason and a member of the Lyons Masonic Lodge and the AmVets. Andy was employed with Beckwith Commercial Roofing as a roof technician, and loved spending time golfing, riding his motorcycle, enjoying his numerous cars and trucks, playing cards, enjoying a beer or two, and laughing with many, many friends.

From a young age, Andy could be found in the woods hunting or on the river fishing with his dad and brother, Ben. A devoted outdoorsman, he loved spending time with family and friends participating in numerous outdoor activities. He was active in local and out of state fishing tournaments, White Tails Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and was involved in the Youth in the Outdoors Skill Day. In recent years, he enjoyed big game hunting and fishing trips with family in Missouri, Wisconsin, and Colorado with extended family in Oregon and Alaska. Andy will be remembered as a loving son, a dear brother, a loyal friend, an outdoor mentor, and a genuine person who lived life to its fullest.

Andy is survived by his loving parents, Pat (Diane) Barrett and Mary Jo (Douglas) Fowkes, both of Clinton; brother, Benjamin (Rosemarie) Barrett of Missouri; sister, Emily Carlson of Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Christine and Kevin Barrett and Alix and Odin Carlson, and a step-grandmother, Betty Schaver, of Fulton. Andy was blessed with many friends, but shared a special friendship with Tyler Hines and his family, Wendy and Morgan Hines and Marv and Vicki McQuistion. Andy was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, two aunts and an uncle. A memorial is being established by the family to be distributed to Andy’s favorite charities.
