Michael P. “Mike” Murphy age 82 of Clinton passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at his home. A Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Prince of Peace Parish. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, May 20th at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in St. Boniface Cemetery. Family would like friends to dress casually in your favorite T-Shirt, Cubs, or Hawkeye’s shirt. In lieu of flowers memorials to the family.
Mike was born in Clinton on October 8, 1943, the son of Frank and Pearl (Conley) Murphy. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and served with the U.S. Army. Mike married Diane Rothe on April 19, 1969 at St. Boniface Church. Diane passed away on March 9, 2003. Mike was employed at Clinton Procession Company, later ADM. He was a member of Prince of Peace and the American Legion. He loved going to his granddaughters activities, he was a part of the dance family, and was always telling jokes and giving out candy. He was a kid at heart! Everyone seemed to call him ‘Grandpa’ or ‘Uncle Mike’, and he loved that. Mike enjoyed bowling in his younger years and was an avid sports fan following his beloved Cubs, Hawkeye’s and Bears.
Mike is survived by 2 children; Mike (Missi) Murphy and Carri (Chris) Bauer both of Clinton; 2 granddaughters, Jordan and Paige (Kyle); a great grandson Brandon; a brother, Jerry (Angie) Murphy of Clive, IA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; His wife, Diane; 2 sisters, Patricia and Janis, and a brother, Joe. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
