He continued his athletic career at Clinton Community College where he played baseball and basketball and finished his degree at the University of Iowa.

Mike’s competitive spirit and love for sports continued through his days as an outfielder for the Happy Joe’s men’s slow pitch softball team. Softball connected him with many of his lifelong friends. Mike’s greatest passion was his family. Some of his fondest memories include coaching his kids activities, most notably the Happy Joe’s Jammers youth basketball team. His other lifelong passion was to follow and attend all of his kids’ activities. In his retirement, Mike spent a majority of his time playing golf and spending time with family and friends. Mike will be remembered as a genuine, hardworking man who always took pride in everything he did. He led by example and made a lasting impact on those that knew him.
