
John E. Schrader age 85 of Clinton, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at Fieldstone in DeWitt. In following John’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Monday, July 6, 2026 at the Pape Funeral Home. A service will be held at 5:00 PM. Burial will be at a later date in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
John was born in Maquoketa, Iowa on February 3, 1941, the son of Carl and Bernadine (Bloom) Schrader. He graduated from Goose Lake High School. John married Patsy Sander on February 10, 1962 at St. Mary’s Church in Bryant. Patsy passed away on March 25, 2014. John had been employed at International Paper and later with Jerry Moehr Painting. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the former Eagles Club. John coached his sons in sports as they were growing up. He enjoyed attending all of his grandkid’s activities, spending mornings and late afternoons with the crew at the Lyons Filling Station, going to the AMVETS, being outdoors, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was a Northeast Athletic Booster, and a fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
John is survived by his son Kevin (Suzanne) Schrader of DeWitt; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie and Kyle; a sister, Teresa (Jim) Salisbury of Davenport, 2 brothers, William (Carol) Schrader of Charlotte and Stephen (Carla) Schrader of Camanche, and many nieces and nephews.
