John Haines – 92

John D. Haines, age 92 of Bettendorf, Iowa, formerly of Clinton, passed away Monday, April 8, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the service time Friday at the funeral home. Following the service cremation rites will be accorded.
John was born in Ladora, Iowa on June 6, 1931, the son of Floyd and Loretta (Wessel) Haines. He was a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. John married Wilma French on May 2, 1954 in Clinton. He was employed at E.I. DuPont for over 35 years. John was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the AMVETS. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and painting scenery. He was a very caring person with a great sense of humor and an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.
John is survived by his wife Wilma; a daughter, Tammy Rick of Clinton; a grandson Trevor Rick (Melissa) of Clinton and twin great grandsons, Lewis and LeRoy. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Jerry and Robert. Online condolences may be let at www.papefh.com.
