Robert L. “Bert” Reed age 53 of Clinton, Iowa passed away Saturday Dec. 2, 2023 at his home. Funeral service will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday Dec. 6th at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5 – 7 PM at the Pape Funeral Home.
Following the service, cremation rites will be accorded and burial held at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers will be his nephews, Merle Jr., Hunter, Brycen, and Kyler Lawrence. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Bert was born on Nov. 24, 1970 in Clinton, IA the son of William and Kathrine (Peters) Reed. He graduated from Clinton High School and then went into the Iowa National Guard. He married Marcy Schutte on Dec. 21, 2007 in Clinton, IA. He was a concrete specialist for Local Labors Union #309 for many years. He was a member of the Eagles Club in Clinton and enjoyed going to the AMVETS. Bert enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, camping, smoking meat, and playing cornhole. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears and Cubs fan.
Bert is survived by his wife, Marcy Reed of Clinton, IA; three step-children, Thomas Houston of Clinton, IA, Shawn and Shannon Anderson both of Thomson, IL;
two grandchildren, Athena and Luna; three brothers, John (Tammy) Peters of Davenport, IA, Richard Peters and Timothy (Cathryn Smiley-Schutte) Peters both of Clinton, IA; his sister, Kay Lawrence of Clinton, IA; his favorite nephew, Merle Lawrence Jr.; and his dog, Tootsie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Merle Lawrence Sr., and his hunting dog, Buddy.
