Danny E. Lawrence age 75 of Miles, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 10, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Church, Sugar Creek. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Danny was born in Savanna, IL on May 4, 1948, the son of Dennis and Eleanor (Beck) Lawrence. He graduated from Sabula High School. Danny served with the U.S. Navy Reservist, Black Beret Unit during the Vietnam War. He married Doris Roling on June 9, 1973 at Sugar Creek and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. Danny farmed and was employed at E.I. DuPont for 50 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and the Miles American Legion. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, going to and following Iowa Hawkeye games, loved going to Walt Disney World, and riding roller coasters, yardwork and watching John Wayne westerns.
Danny is survived by his wife Doris; 5 children, Chris (Kelly) Lawrence of DeWitt and their children, Tyler, Brady, Madison, and Mason, Melissa (Kevin) Banowetz of Spragueville and their children, Lauren, Madison, and Darin, Marcia Lawrence of North Liberty, IA, Renee Lawrence (boyfriend Chris Kuhl) and her son, Tucker of Miles, and Darren Lawrence of North Liberty; 3 brothers, Charles (Sherry) Lawrence of MN, his twin brother, Denny Lawrence (former wife, Susan Lawrence) of IA, and Wayne (Sharon) Lawrence of AZ; a sister, Pamela (David) Schroeder of IL, several nieces and nephews, and God Child, Kristen Gruenwald Young, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father and mother-in-law, Ben and Luarentia Roling, brothers, and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Diane Roling, Leo “Pete” and Carolyn Roling, Delores Wood (Doris’s twin sister), and James and Marilou Roling.
