Georgia M. Steege of Savanna, IL died Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Big Meadows Nursing Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 20th at the Pape Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 656 5th Avenue South at 10:00am on Wednesday, June 21. The Reverend Nathan Wille will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery following the service. A luncheon will be served following the cemetery service at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was born November 11, 1929 to D. Paul and Helena (Paustian) Vore at Traer, Iowa. She graduated from Lyons High School, Clinton, Iowa in 1947. She married Milton E. Steege on December 16, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Clinton. She retired in 1991 from Trinity Lutheran church as the secretary for 21½ years. She did volunteer services for Samaritan hospice and Wyndcrest Nursing Home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Fulton Country Club.
Survivors include her son Paul (Martha) Steege of Omaha, Nebraska; 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, 3 great granddaughters and 3 great grandsons. Her parents, husband, Milton Steege, son, Craig Steege of Tracy, CA and grandson Mark Steege of Fargo, ND preceded her in death.
I served as vacancy pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1980-81 and worked closely with Georgia. She was an excellent and efficient church secretary. Trinity Lutheran Church and the kingdom of God were blessed by her dedicated and faithful service. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
