Thoughts and prayers to you all. We had Dick for 92 years, for that I am thankful. Now he can rest without pain and can enjoy his time with loved ones. His favorite teams will always win and there will be nothing but Holes in One on the golf course.
So sad to read of Mr. Thoms passing; my thoughts are with all of the extended Thoms family. Between his dutiful years of service to the City of Clinton, to his “unique” individual style, he made a lasting impression on the community & will greatly be missed.
My grandpa, Richard Thoms was always the one that wanted to talk about sports. He loved the Chicago White Sox and if it wasn’t for his love of that team and the game, I probably would never have followed baseball as much as I did growing up. Whenever I would call him to chat about life, sports, etc., I wouldn’t be surprised if he was watching a game at that moment! There were numerous of times when I asked, “Grandpa who’s your second favorite baseball team”, and he would joke around and always say the same answer every time, “Anyone who beats them darn cubbies!”. This made me chuckle every time as my grandpa had quite the sense of humor and loved life to it’s fullest. Love you Grandpa, RIP!

Hi Connie, Thinking of you and Mark and your families during this time of loss. I remember years ago how you told me your dad playfully teased you about becoming a “mackerel snapper”! He sounded like quite a guy. Martin’s and my deepest sympathies.
