Robert J. Conklin age 85 of Clinton, IA, passed away Friday Feb. 17, 2023 at his home. No local services planned. Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan, MI at a later date. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family. Robert was born on March 29, 1937 in Milford, MI the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Wolfe) Conklin. He married Martha Rice on Apr. 27, 1957 in Milford, MI, she died in 2003. He later married Janice Chase on Mar. 20, 2004 in Clinton, IA. Robert worked as a sheriff deputy in Washtenaw County Michigan for several years and later worked security at the Ford Auto Plant.
Robert is survived by his wife, Janice Conklin of Clinton, IA; his children, Terrie (Dan) Case of Lewiston, MI, Tim (Shelly King) Conklin of Bay City, MI, Tom (Shady) Conklin of Lakeland, FL, and Todd (Shannon) Conklin of Gaines, MI; 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; three step-children, Leonard Green, Van (Becky) Green, and Paula (Eric) Zinke all of Clinton, IA;
9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers, Kurt (Karla) Conklin of Clinton, IA and Jim Conklin of Portland, OR; three sisters, Patty (Andy) Merkowsky of Allentown, PA, Star Fox of Follett, IA, and Sandy Chase of Clinton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two brothers, and a sister.
