Paul M. Dykstra, age 75 of Clinton, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Pape Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 23rd at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery.
Paul was born in Clinton on June 7, 1947, the son of John P. and Catherine (Ven Huizen) Dykstra. He graduated from Fulton High School. Paul served from 1966 to 1969 with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Susan Sterbenz on August 11, 1984 in Fulton. Susan passed away on August 1, 2020. Paul was employed with A.V. Transportation as a truck driver and later as dispatcher. He had also worked for Blue Bird Transfer and Duane Johnson Trucking. While living in Searcy, Arkansas Paul was an EMT and Firefighter. He was a member of the AMVETS and Loyal Order of Moose. He enjoyed going to the casino, fishing, following NASCAR, the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Paul is survived by 2 sons; Paul (Mindy) Sterbenz of West Liberty, IA and Edwin Selser of Castle Rock, CO; 2 daughters, Tammy Pruitt of Searcy, AR and Michelle Dykstra of Camanche; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Judy (Charles) Hamstra of Albany and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Susan; a daughter Susan Selser, and a brother, Roger. Memorials may be made to the Clinton AMVETS. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
