Dick was born in Clinton on February 10, 1934, the son of Alfred and Genevieve (Bice) Lingle. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1953. An outstanding athlete at St. Mary’s, Dick was a starting player on the 1953 State Championship basketball team. He served with the US Army from 1954 to 1956. Dick married the love of his life, Dorothy Horst, on April 14, 1956 at St. Irenaeus Church in Clinton. He was the Plant Supervisor at Interstate Power retiring in 1994. Dick was a member of Prince of Peace Parish, the Wednesday morning Bible Study Group, and the CEW Family. He and Dorothy volunteered with the Holiday Network for many years. Dick was a very active member of the former St. Irenaeus Grade School Booster Club and coached basketball at St. Irenaeus for several years. He had a couple side jobs and enjoyed cement work and painting. Dick and Dorothy loved their summers in Wisconsin at their cottage on Lake Chetek, and were thankful for many special friendships made over the years. Dick enjoyed fishing for crappies, playing basketball and the L.B.A.R. retreats with his sons. He loved supporting his family at all events, and followed Notre Dame Football and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
