Ronald R. Thompson, age 84 of rural Clinton, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023 at his home. In following Ron’s wishes a private graveside service will be held at Andover Cemetery. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Ron was born in Clinton, IA on June 22, 1938, the son of Kermit and Catherine (Roeh) Thompson. He joined the U.S. Army Paratroopers serving with the 82nd Airborne Division in Germany. Ron married Rosemary Peters on March 2, 1963 at Faith Lutheran Church in Andover. He was a long haul trucker, driving for several companies. Ron enjoyed wood working and spending time and taking care of his family. He was a lawn mowing fanatic.
Ron is survived by his wife Rosemary; 3 children, Wade (Kristi) Thompson of Low Moor, Cynthia (Peter) Bechtel of Davenport and Tammy Thompson at home; 4 granddaughters, Jennifer, Sara, Carmen, and Olivia and 6 great grandchildren, Travis, Tyler, Tristen, Mason, Sienna, and Jasper.
