James T. Clark Jr., age 66 of Clinton passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at The Alverno in Clinton, following a seven year struggle with a variety of medical problems. According to his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation and no service. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
James was born August 23, 1956, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of James T. and Patricia A. (Van De Mark) Clark. He grew up on the family farm located one mile east of Fulton. He attended the Fulton Schools and graduated from Fulton High School in 1974. As an active member of the Future Farmers of America while in high school, he was elected President of the Thomson-Fulton Chapter. He loved playing 4-H softball and FFA basketball and contributed to some very successful teams. James enjoyed the farm life, raising swine and showing some champions at various fairs in Whiteside and Carroll Counties.
James worked long hours on the farm until his father’s retirement from farming in 1988. After high school, he was employed at the Clinton Farm & Fleet store. He was then employed at the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad Clinton Car Shops for 10 years, until operations there ceased in 1995. He went on to own and operate Heartland Tax Service in Clinton until his death. In his spare time, James indulged his love of antiques, owning and operating Barnyard Antiques in Fulton, IL. As far back as his childhood, he was an avid Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Bears fan.
James is survived by his children, Patrick (Alicia) Clark and Carrie Neff, both of Clinton; five grandchildren; Brothers John (Louise) Clark of Morrison and Daniel Clark of Boulder City, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister Margaret Clark. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
