Robert F. Jones Jr., 70 of Topeka, KS, formerly of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Genesis East Hospital in Davenport. Burial took place at Oakland Cemetery with military honors from the Clinton AMVETS. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com.
Robert was born in Clinton on December 16, 1954, the son of Robert Sr. and Virginia (Peters) Jones. He enlisted in the US Navy and worked in the medical field, including the prestigious hospitals overseas. Robert also worked as a firefighter and later a safety coordinator with OSHA. Music was a huge part of Robert’s life. He played guitar in multiple bands, and even built his own guitars. He also enjoyed fishing, horses, and going out for a nice dinner.
Robert is survived by his children, Kristin (Kevin) Pearcy of Clinton, Colin Jones of Sabula, and Jason Jones of Streator, IL; grandchildren Carter, Emma, Mia, and Evan; a brother Patrick Jones, and sister Teresa (Steve) White both of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Becky; and a nephew Nick.
I remember when we were neighbors on Camanche Ave in the early 60’s and attended Lincoln Elementary together. We latter caught up with each other at Jefferson where he was a hit when he brought his accordion to school. But I will never forget the day after his father took him to see Liberace at the Lafayette Hotel how he raved about the performance to us.
