Robert C. “Bob” Assenmacher age 83 of Clinton, passed away Thursday Feb. 7, 2019 at West Wing Place in DeWitt. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday Feb. 13th at St. Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Sugar Creek. Visitation will be held Wednesday 9:30 AM until the service at the church. Bob was born on July 1, 1935 in Browns Station, IA, the son of Mathias and Marie (Arkenberg) Assenmacher. He was a US Army veteran, serving from 1958-1960. He worked as a machinist for International Paper, Clinton for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. Bob attended the Church of the Visitation in Camanche. He enjoyed playing the organ, riding motorcycles, and tinkering with electronics.
Bob is survived by his three daughters, Natalie (Brian) Zaehringer of Davenport, IA, Loreen (David) Hampton of Bettendorf, IA, and Beth (Andrew) Jacobs of Shorewood, WI; six grandchildren, Megan (Brett) Umthun, Dustin Gustafson, Taylor Hampton, Sophie Zaehringer, Elise Jacobs, and Samuel Jacobs; and a brother, John (Janella) Assenmacher of Goose Lake, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lucille.
