Richard F. Nelson age 84 of Clinton, Iowa, passed away Wednesday Nov. 3, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Sioux City, Iowa. Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday Nov. 8th at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be held Monday 10:00 AM until the service hour at the Pape Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Darwin and David Nelson, Robert Dalton, Andy Kuehl, Shane Nixon, and Michael Lacey. Richard was born on Aug. 7, 1937 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Marie (Leslie) Nelson. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1955. He served in the US Marine Corp from 1955-1959. Richard married Beverly Webb on June 6, 1984 in DeWitt, Iowa, she died in 2019. He worked at Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad for 29 years as a Carman welder. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Clinton and enjoyed computer operating.

Richard is survived by his five children, Trudy (Robert) Dalton of Clinton, IA, Sharon (Tom) Hutcheson of Sioux City, IA, Penny (Richard) Abbott of Sioux City, IA, Darwin (Laura) Olsen of Davenport, IA, and Brenda (Terry) Pokket of Sioux City, IA; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, two sons, Russell and John, two brothers, and a sister.
