Patricia A. “Pat” Matheson-Murty age 86 of Clinton passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at her home. In following Pat’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2025 at the Pape Funeral Home with a memorial service set for 3:30 PM.
Pat was born in Iowa City on April 4, 1939, the daughter of Clifford and Alice (Groff) Kiefer. She had been a member of the Church of the Open Door. Pat had worked as a waitress and bartender for many years and had also been a driver for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. She was an avid Minions collector. She loved dancing and animals and in her younger years enjoyed motorcycle riding.
Pat is survived by 8 children; Bernice Bender of Washington, IA, LeAnn Young of Clinton, Christine (Keith) Lyman of Sharon, VT, Frank LaShelle (Kim VanKampen) of Rock Island, Lorna (Elmer) Pothof of Clinton, James (Jean) LaShelle of Clinton, Kym Just of Clinton, and Larry (Debi) Thein of Long Grove; 228 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Linda Casey of Clinton. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son John Roth in 2021; husband, Joseph Murty; 2 great grandsons, Jackson Lyman and Keefer Conklin, and great granddaughter, Iriyah Tucker. Pat was full of love. She had more than enough for her family, it spilled out and included anyone In her circle. I was so blessed to know this exceptional woman. I know Jesus greeted her with, “Well done!”

I so sad to hear she pass I talk to her about 2 weeks ago she told me stop by and get a get well card for me from her I said ain’t had surgery yet she said I know sweetie I want you to have early I never made it over I feel so bad she is the sweetest lady ever she was so. good to me and my boys always praying for us I love her so much gonna miss her prayers to all her family and friends we all lost a good lady love you pat rip Pat
