Lloyd R. Mether age 89 of Clinton, passed away Tuesday Feb. 9, 2021 at The Alverno Healthcare Facility in Clinton. Funeral services will be held at Noon at the Pape Funeral Home, Clinton. Visitation will be held Friday 11:00 AM until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Calvary Cemetery, Clinton. Online condolences may be left at www.papefh.com

Lloyd was born on Jan. 4, 1932 in Dunkerton, IA, the son of Louis and Lydia (Lipskoch) Mether. He graduated from Bussey High School in 1950. He honored his country by serving as a Private First Class in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954. He married Mary Karr in LaPorte City, IA, they were later divorced. He later married Virginia (Rixen) Hagge on April 18, 1975 in Rock Island, IL, she died in 2010. Lloyd worked as a truck driver for Walnut Dairy, Anderson-Erickson, and AIRCO, before retiring in 1997. He enjoyed his horses, snowmobiling, and boating.

Lloyd is survived by his four children, Byron (Susan) Mether of East Peoria, IL, Lynda (Dean) Martin of Maquoketa, IA, Gordon (Tari) Mether of Naples, FL, and Barton Mether of Stevens Point, WI; four step-daughters, Louann (Anthony) McNamara of Boulder, CO, Jeanann (James) Bailey of Cedar Rapids, IA, Marcia (Terry) Gertson of Terre Haute, IN, and Sharen (James) Peart of Clinton, IA; five grandchildren, Derek, Jeremy, Seth, Jacquelyn, and Bruce; five great grandsons; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren;sister-in-law’s, Judith Mether of LaPorte City, IA and Genevieve Petersen of Clinton; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Virginia, and two brothers, Lawrence and Venice.
