Gregory D. “Greg” Scott, age 69 of Quincy, IL, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Bryant, Iowa.
Greg was born in Maquoketa, Iowa on October 20, 1951, the son of Dale and Carla (Wolff) Scott. He graduated from Clinton High School and received his Industrial Engineering Degree from Iowa State University. Greg married Christine Harris on June 18, 1977 in Chicago. He had been the Plant Manager for Square D, Federal Mogul and later, Watlow Electrical. He retired in 2015. Greg never met a stranger and truly cared for the well-being of everyone he knew. In his free time, Greg enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies. If he was not working or spending quality time with his family, you would find him out on the golf course enjoying the day, in the basement learning a new favorite song on his favorite guitar, or in the garage fine-tuning one of his classic cars so it would be ready for the next little Sunday drive. Greg also enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.
Greg is survived by his wife Christine; a daughter, Mikaela Davis of Carterville, IL; a son, Jason Scott of St. Louis; 2 grandchildren, Garrett and Audrey; his mother, Carla Scott of Clinton; 2 brothers, David (Terry) Scott of Bettendorf and Donald (Christine) Scott of Johnston, IA; 3 sisters, Sharon (Larry) Hook of Thomson, Wendy (Denny) Aye of Sonora, CA, and Penny (David) Swanton of Goose Lake and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.

I had the pleasure of working with Greg and there are very few people that have the gift that he has . The respect and admiration from whomever came in contact with . His words were gold and his hand shakes were always welcomed . If you wanted to know were he was around lunch you would find him in the cafeteria eating his lunch with his employees . I met Greg in the Early 70’s while working for Sguare D Company. We shared many of the same friends and interests. We spent many days together golfing and enjoying life. Many that were lucky to call him a friend will miss but never forget his kindness and friendship. Chris and family, know that Greg will be remembered by a very large group. Our lives were better for knowing Greg. God Bless and Rest In Peace friend.
Greg was a good friend and I can attest my life is better since knowing him. The past years have been a battle and he was a warrior in battling what life dealt him. Since having had the pleasure of knowing him since the early 70’s I have many, many fond memories and they will be cherished God bless Chris and the kids as they start a new chapter.
Greg was/is a good friend and Square D associate. I can vouch for his love of golf as a team member in the Square D annual golf outing in Kansas City. I always liked when I was teamed with Greg because of his patience (I was never a good golfer) and encouragement.
The last time I saw Greg (I live in Ohio) was a couple years ago when he came to the KC outing and played with each foursome.
He will be sorely missed by all of his friends and certainly family. God always takes a good moons early.

A terrific gentleman! I had the pleasure of being an employee of Greg. A true boss who always wanted us to learn and grow while his intelligent leadership was shared! My prayers for his family as you mourn and carry those great memories in the days ahead. I have very fond memories of Greg sharing many of his life’s treasures with me and my family. Our sons played golf in high school and often we shared a social time in their family home. Peace my friends. My prayers God watches over your family in their time of huge loss. Rest In Peace!
