Elynor S. King age 104 passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026. Elynor has donated her body to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department. No services are planned for at this time. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Elynor was born in Thomson, Illinois on December 13, 1921, the daughter of Foster LeFord and Irma (Gelpen) Stagg. Elynor married Dr. Ross King in 1951. Dr. King passed away in April of 1983. Elynor had worked with her husband in his medical practice but spent her entire life on conservation and environmental causes.
Elynor is survived by a nephew, David Stagg (Linda Wassell); friends, Carla Hamilton and Kathy Sherman; best friend and caretaker, Kimberly Ready, and many other great caretakers and nursing crew. I’m at Elynor over 50 years ago through my mother-in-law’s best friend Ruth Arling, who happened to be Elynor’s roommate in college. She taught me so much about art and travel, and just good life lessons that come from the heart. It was an honor to have called her my friend and I will miss her.
